If you ever want to feel like a fat slacker, I suggest hanging out all day with people that work out and eat healthy. We shot these portraits for Time Out Chicago right before I was getting ready to stuff gross amounts of food into my mouth while lounging around during the holidays. Our subjects however, truly had inspiring stories of adopting a healthy diet, fitness, and weight loss.

Time Out Chicago Kids | Holiday Cover & Tea Time

I always enjoy shooting for Time Out Chicago Kids, so I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their holiday cover. This was a fun shoot indeed! Our prop stylist had to wrap a bazillion presents for our kids to lay in, and the kids had a fun time pretending that all of the presents would be theirs. Logistically, the shot wasn’t that bad, but as we were photographing our first model, the little boy was getting grumpy because he had a present sticking him in the back. When we moved to our second model, we wanted to make sure that she was a little more comfortable. Sadly, I think we did that too well, because she just about fell asleep as we were shooting!

I also shot this image for the same issue of Time Out Chicago Kids. A fun shot meant to illustrate whether or not Tiffany’s Table Manners for Teenagers is relevant in today’s world. We got to shoot Tea Time at the Palmer House Hotel here in Chicago, with the original concept of having the adult and the teenager doing the same exact mannerisms, motions, etc… I really wanted to show a bit more contrast in the image, so I also shot some images where the mannerisms and body language are the same between the two, but I inserted something more modern by having the girl texting on her phone.
