Summer Girlfriends

Back in March while out with some friends at the Whistler, I was introduced to a few members of the band Summer Girlfriends. This all girl 5 piece had a great look and as I soon found out, a great sound! I’ve been wanting to get a few band photos in my portfolio, so I spoke with them about doing a photo shoot.

Having heard them play live, I looked up photos that had been done of them previously. While the photos were good, I felt as though they didn’t portray the band’s image or sound. The girls sent me a copy of their upcoming album Shockwaves and after giving it a few listens, I met them for lunch to talk about ideas for photos. Meeting them in person definitely solidified my image of them being super fun, colorful girls, who don’t take themselves too seriously. We decided to do a couple of projects together, and these images are from the first. Stay tuned for another session complete with a music video by mid summer!
